Summary: Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their ruthless father. To conclude, you may have to watch out for different triggers (found at the end of the review) and/or occasional innuendos, but overall, if you have no problem with those things, get ready to be swept away in awe, connectedness, and bliss as you experience the one and only mystical… Caraval.Publisher Information: New York, NY: Flatiron, 2017 If you are a mature 12 year old or above, I would highly, highly, HIGHLY suggest this to you with no hesitation. Even though it wasn’t an “easy read” with all the tension and plot twists, every difficult section only left me hungry for more. I know I said in summary before and still wrote feverishly, but I cannot say enough about this book. I felt both warm and safe in some parts and in others practically out of my seat. The smoothness of the sentences and flow of chapters never ceased to shock me and I found myself not able to talk about anything else for the whole day. This author certainly has a way with words many others could not even dream of. In summary, READ THIS BOOK!!! After finishing the Hunger Games, I never thought I’d feel as attached to the characters as I did then, but this book both exceeded all expectations and truly entranced me with its page turning speed and flawlessness. The romance in this may, for some more on the conservative side, flirt with their barriers as there are a bit of innuendos throughout, but honestly for me, it felt like just the right balance as it was intriguing, but still appropriate. However, when I picked up this book, though I was a little paranoid all the characters were going to die, I felt no different than I did reading my past two recent books and simply could not get over how much attachment I felt to them. Before this I read the Hunger Games as well as Divergent and got so attached to the characters that, when a certain Divergent character died (I won’t spoil it if you haven’t read it but if you have you likely know who I’m talking about-yes THE death) I thought I’d be torn to shreds for the rest of my book reading life. While I did finish it today, I also started it, and no, I didn’t spend the whole day on it. (Warning: this review will contain a LOT of caps lock.) Simply put I ADORE this book. I just finished reading this and, while I rarely - if ever - write reviews for websites, I knew I just couldn’t keep the absolute SPLENDOR of this book all to myself and needed to help those who, like I was, are in a book slump.
